Preparation
The preparation for an unshaven hair transplant begins with an initial consultation with the surgeon. During this phase, the surgeon will assess the patient's hair loss pattern, scalp laxity, and overall health. They will also discuss the patient's desired outcome and set realistic expectations. Photos of the scalp may be taken for reference during the planning stage.
Operation
On the day of the surgery the doctor will trim a patch of hair, in the selected donor area. This step helps in seeing and reaching the units for extraction while maintaining the length of surrounding hair. Using a tool known as a micro punch the doctor carefully removes follicular units that contain long unshaven hairs.
These follicular units are then moved to areas, on the scalp where hair is thinning or balding. The doctor strategically implants these grafts to achieve an appearance. The entire procedure is done under anesthesia ensuring discomfort.
Post-Operation
Following a hair transplant patients may experience swelling and discomfort in both the donor and recipient regions. The surgeon will give aftercare guidelines covering scalp care, prescribed medications and recommended limitations on activities during the recovery phase. While most individuals can resume their routines within a days it is advisable to refrain from rigorous activities for a couple of weeks.
